Kimberly covering American Woman. Boss RC-50 with live looping for bass and guitar parts. Stand alone five string Alembic Epic lead bass with Roland GS-6 for distortion, color and flavor.
Inspired by Phil Keaggy's 'Salvation Army Band'. Another study in evolution from the previous version captured from my first solo gig in January '07. Taped at the Global Bean Coffee Traders in Silverdale, WA 11/09/07. Three looping parts, one stand alone Alembic bass and yours truly. :)
The title says it all. To give credit where it's due, the groove is from Phil Keaggy's Salvation Army Band. Needless to say, to those familiar with Phil's material, I've taken some very 'serious liberty' with my 'personal interpetation'of the tune. One thing for certain though, it's a gas to play. Enjoy.
Lee's in Shreveport LA, a Monday night blues jam, a tradition that's celebrated 20 years of performing local musicians. Stan Hoffman keyboards, John Hoffman drums, Danny Wilder guitar, Jerry Beach guitar, Dirty Redd Crenshaw trumpet and yours truly Kimberly on bass.
Lennon/McCartney. That pretty much says it all. :) Anyway, this was captured on February 16th in Redmond Wa at the Three Lions Pub. A two song solo bass medley.
A 'study in evolution' comparison with the previous version from my first solo gig in January '07. Taped at the Global Bean Coffee Traders in Silverdale, WA 11/09/07. A twelve bar blues using two looping parts and one synthesizer voicing for the "Moody Sax" solo section. And of course stand alone bass for the lead melody/solo sections.
A clip taken at the Global Bean Coffee Traders, 11/09/07. While warming up prior to the gig and looking for a different flute voicing, I 'stumbled' over a didgeridoo in my Roland GR-20 synth. After a bit of 'noodlin' around with a didgeridoo rhythm, a blending of flute and bass voicings and a little help from 'Carlos', 'Didgeridoodoo' was born.
Renamed from 'FunkAy' thanks to Bruce. :) A clip from a performance at the Global Bean Coffee Trader in Silverdale, WA taken 11/09/07. A tune with three looper parts (bass and two 'guitar' rhythms) supporting a lead bass melody/solo.
Open Mike at Lee's in Shreveport LA. Stan Hoffman keyboards, Danny Wilder guitar, Jerry Beach guitar, John Hoffman drums, Dirty Redd Crenshaw trumpet, Kimberly on bass.

Jamming Stevie Wonder's 'Boogie on Reggae Woman' with Stan Hoffman, Tom McCullough, Jay Frank and herself. ;) Hotrods and Hogs, Shreveport LA, April 14, 2007
Sitting in with a local funk/rock band Planet Groove on a break. Thanks to Randy and the guys. Bass Boogie was/is inspired by Tommy Emmanual's Guitar Boogie, though any resemblance is purely coincidental.
Kimberly's cover of a 70's cover of a 60's hit. It's morphed so far away from the original, it's nearly unrecognizable from the 70's cover, much less the original 60's version. Does this mean it's an original? Nahhh...it's just me playing. Anyway, does anyone care to play 'Name that Tune'? ;)
Johnny 'Guitar' Watson's 'Real Mother for Ya'. Jamming with Stan Hoffman, Tom McCullough and Jay Frank at Hotrods and Hogs in Shreveport LA April 14, 2007.
A clip from Friday 11/09/07 at the Global Bean Coffee Traders in Silverdale, WA. An 'E groove' using an RC-50 looper with a bass and 'guitar' line looping and accompanying a lead bass melody. Renamed River Road from GrooviE.
After getting a six string Alembic Epic a month ago to the day, I was emboldened enough to take it to a gig and play live, so 'technically' this is the debut of my sixer. :) Captured 10-03-08 at the Global Bean Coffee Traders in Silverdale, Wa. Accompanied by Joel S. of the Bean, a 12 bar blues.
Bass line and chords recorded live using an RC-50 looper.
Captured live at the Global Bean Coffee Traders in Silverdale Wa 10-03-08. A 'little ditty' inspired by my cousin Stan Hoffman keyboardist extraordinaire. Two looping parts using an RC-50 looper and Alembic Epic five string and a GR-20 synth for melodic noodlin's and solos.
