Metacreations Bryce is an interesting 3D terrain-generating application. You can build some beautiful landscapes, create animations, and even import 3D models from other programs.

This is the first video that I've made for Meta.
Go buy their stuff, it's seriously high quality good shit. If you don't, I'll come by and slap you.

Way back when....hmmm 1998 maybe...Metacreation s made Bryce or maybe it became Corel. Poser was Metacreations as well. I made this over the weekend. Primitive but my mind swelled with what the possibilities were.

The Forest is another quick and easy landscape using a "mountain" to create a simple model -- in this case, a forest full of trees. Experiment with different textures (trunk, terrain, etc.) to get different kinds of trees.

The River Valley is one of my favorite Bryce landscapes for two reasons: 1.) It amazes me how much you can do with a simple mountain. 2.) Simple changes (like the angle, textures, and sky) make a huge difference in how it looks.

One of my favorite quick-tips is building a city in Bryce using a mountain. I spent months trying to use blocks and cylinders to build a simple city that my spaceship could fly around, but nothing seemed to work and it took FOREVER to render. This not only renders fast, but it takes 5 minutes to put together.

One of the more difficult functions of Bryce is advanced animation. This isn't necessarily difficult, but it takes practice. I will go over how to view your objects in camera mode, how to make the camera follow the objects, how to move the camera, and how to animate them all together.

The Island is probably the most common and most basic landscape that you can create in Bryce. I like to take it a stup further and edit the mountain a bit for more realism.

It was raining so me and my friend had to skate in his garage. So there's none of my new rolling tricks, which makes me sad. Song: Adventure Today by The Aquabats

Sometimes you build the perfect scene, but you want to include a model you built in Rhino or 3DS or Poser -- or whatever. Or you may decide to insert a pre-made model that you downloaded. This is a basic tutorial in doing that.

Building a sword with Bryce is not difficult, but it does take several steps -- and several pieces. I enjoy this because it really allows you to use components that people don't normally consider "friendly" -- and to make things that people normally consider impossible in Bryce.

Creating a desert in Bryce is more difficult because you can't rely on your water to make your scene look cool. I like to work with camera angles, haze, sun/sky settings, and textures to make my scenes really pop. Experiment and have fun!

There are times when you need to place an object in Outer Space. It's not as straightforward as you might think, but it's possible and fairly easy. Add stars, coments, a moon, etc.
