I recently hosted a group of travel writers and sales agents in Bangladesh. One of them, writer Nick Redmayne, liked taking it local whenever possible. A haircut, massage, and face rub cost him Tk 40, or 60 cents US.

Great place for shopping, one of the only place in the whole country where women roam freely without skulking beneath somber veils and behind frowning, bearded and plump bellied husbands. Many friendly people chat up foreigners on the overpass. Had great fun in this place!
