Here's a short clip of us in Cartagena. It's a truly beautiful city on the North Coast of Colombia - one of the oldest in South America, and incredibly well-preserved. The architecture is stunning, the food is great, the people friendly - it's a fantastic place to visit.
At Easter, we went to Villa de Leyva for a few days. This old-fashioned Colombian town is about 4 hours from Bogota. It's beautiful with its white-washed buildings and cobble-stoned streets. We had a lovely time just wandering around, looking at the arts and crafts, and enjoying the delicious food...
Here's the second part of our world trip - Mexico. We were still very much learning to use the camera and video edit, so its not great - but a bit better than Hawaii. And the footage - of the incredible pyramids at Teotihuacan, the stunning silver-mining town of Taxco, and the beautiful beach at San Agustinillo - is way cooler than the dull Hawaiin footage...
After Mexico, we headed off to Guatemala for a week, where we stayed at the stunning La Casa del Mundo on Lake Atitlan, wandered around the gorgeous old colonial town of Antigua, and trekked through the Mayan ruins at Tikal.
From Guatemala we headed into Belize for a chilled week at Caye Caulker. Unfortunately, we were so into the relaxed Carribean vibe that we forgot to take the video camera out, and only took a few snaps with the camera. So this is the best I could put together...
From Belize we headed back to Mexico, checking out the Yucatan Peninsula. After a few days on the incredible white sands of Tulum, we went to see the beautiful flamingo colony at Rio Lagartos (avoiding Cancun like the plague).
From New Orleans we flew to England. We only spent a few days in London, a couple in Northampton, and a couple in Bristol - once again forgetting to take out the video camera. So all we have is these few snapshots.
From England it was off to Egypt, to marvel at the pyramids of Giza, the stunning desert scenes and the temples of Luxor. While travelling there was difficult, the sites were truly incredible.
From the hassles of Egypt we headed into relatively stress-free Jordan. We only stayed a couple of nights, but saw the amazing ruins at Petra. The footage doesn't begin to show the size or beauty of the place...
We next headed to the beautiful old city of Damascus, with its stunning mosques and friendly people. From there it was up to Turkey, to chill out in the tree-houses of Olimpos, sip wine by the harbour at Antalya, and hang out with my parents in Istanbul...
From Spain we flew up to Finland. Ah, beautiful Finland - with its stunning lakes, midnight sun and quirky people. We loved it so much we stayed a couple of weeks - and even got to meet Santa Claus!
From Finland we flew to Stockholm for a few days. We didn't realise how beautiful (but expensive) stockholm was, built on 14 different islands. It's one of the prettiest cities we've ever seen.
Next we headed down to Estonia. Tallinn is a stunning city - an incredibly well-preserved 16th century cobblestoned town, with many of the original buildings, walls and towers still intact. And it had great food. We were also lucky enough to see the White Stripes there...
From Estonia we headed down into Latvia. After spending a few days in Riga, we hired a car and headed to the Gauja National Park at Sigulda. The forest and the river were so peaceful - it was great to get out of the city for a while.
From Lithuania we flew to Austria. I'd have to say this was the lowlight of our trip - the people were rude and grumpy, they lied to us and yelled at us, and all we wanted to do was leave.
I guess I should warn you about explicit language in this one...
From Austria it was on to the Czech Republic - to see Cesky Budejovice with its enormous town square, Cesky Krumlov with its fairytale castle, and Prague with its incredible sense of history and amazing architecture.
From the Czech Republic we headed up to Berlin, to spend a few days with our friend Daniel. It was then across to Amsterdam for a few more days wandering amongst the canals. We had a very relaxing time in both of these cities, just hanging out enjoying the atmosphere.
From Holland we took a bus down to Paris, to spend a few days admiring the amazing art, strolling along the Seine, checking out the churches, and just enjoying being in one of the great cities of the world.
