Volcano Pacaya, just outside Antigua and Guatemala City, Guatemala, erupts on new years eve 2006, just as my friends decided to trek up to get a closer look. A red-hot boulder about the size of a volkswagon tumbled toward them, but luckily everyone was OK.

This as close as I could get to a river of lava ( 6 feet away, I felt like if i was going to get on fire) an unforgetable experience, this volcano is a very active volcano located in Guatemala, many people visits it daily.

Near Guatemala City is the very active Volcano Pacaya. Tours leave daily from Antigua de Guatemala to climb the volcano and reach within inches of the lava flows. In some cases you can actually walk on top of very recent flows. Don't melt your shoes!
