Another awesome trip last Sunday. The rain held out and we did a lot of extreme trails. The FJ suffered quite a bit of carnage, the CJ a few scratches. Here is part 1 of the videos.
This was the start of our 7 hour journey to cross 1.5kms of the most extreme terrain I have ever done. No one has ever traversed where we will go today. Check out the following vids to climb the dam wall!
Here is the last part of our jungle adventures. After the river run, you need to get out by going up a 45 deg, twisty, slippery, impossible hill. Winch mandatory. It's at least 200m high.
During the second special stage at the Progo Offroad Comp in Java, I rolled my Cherokee. You can hear Richard talking as he films. He tried to rush to help, but the officials didn't let him go on the track. In panic he forgets to turn his video off while he runs to me.
As usual, Team ProRock having fun in Bromo. My friend Big Man Che rolls into the same little trap, but a feet further up the river just like on Thursday's trip.
This is a track that has never been done by any 4wd. It's a bit tight, with body damage guaranteed. I'm strapped by several people so that I don't go over. I used the twin stick to disengage the rear drive frequently here.
Part2 of another awesome trip last Sunday. The rain held out and we did a lot of extreme trails. The FJ suffered quite a bit of carnage, the CJ a few scratches. Enjoy.
Once past the big jagged rocks, we found a nice drive closer towards the dam. Here you see my other CJ3b (Mitsubishi)followin g. This was the 3b's first day out, unfortunately her engine seized up on the trail dammit!
As usual, Team ProRock having fun in Bromo. My friend Big Man Che rolls into a inconspicuous little creek that was like chest deep. Little did he know.
This is where I get into relatively deep hole with smooth rocks all around. My tyres just couldn't get grip and it was down to 5psi already with internal bead locks. I did a 180deg turn around a damn tight spot
As you can see from Part 3 I simply couldn't get up these rocks. Sometimes you just gotta get out and see where you are going. Once I did it was easy. I then headed for the insane dam wall climb...
Compilation of videos and still shots from Harvey long weekend trip. My ZJ made it up Hitchhiker twice and also through the Grater. All in all it was a good day.
I tried going up a small hill, but it was just too slippery even for my Boggers. Since I couldn't really reverse because of a rock, I had to turn around sharp. That's where my twin stick comes in handy. I can disconnect the rear axle and turn on a dime.
Here is my first try at the wall. It was so damn slippery, no one has been crazy enuf to even think about going up here. I was sliding side to side. I love my Warn high mount (it's been upgraded with a 6hp XP motor). My drive shaft blew once I was on top.
After busting my front prop shaft, I had to go back down and put the spare one on. How's the view huh? Blue sky from the windscreen (yeah, that means almost vertical) and the water to the back.
Some clips of the Offroad Challenge in Solo in March 2008. I came 10th out of about 55 competitors. If I didn't roll on one of the special stages I should have made top 5 dammit!
My CJ once again, this time back with a lower gear ratio and a full Detroit Locker at the front. Making obstacles such as these easier. Those are 37" tyres on the front.
Here is my second try up the wall, I pointed the Jeep to the left as the tree that I hooked up to was on the right, and hence it kept pulling me to the right. Winching the beast really put a lot of strain on the winch. Hence I double lined this time. This time the welds on the front drive shaft shattered from the stress. Worse still I my battery died and I was stuck there.
Here is the view from the top. Crazy you say? Just a bit. I had to wait for a spare battery to help me get started. We're almost there, you probably can't see it but there is actually a hi lift jack helping me to clear the transmission on the edge of the wall.
This is me off roading early Feb 08, travelling up a river, my 37" tyre swallowed by a hole and I manage to get out of the situation by climbing up a wall.
I tried to drive my CJ on top of a V groove, but my spotter doesn't know how to guide me properly so I slid into it. It got badly stuck, I couldn't winch out. In the end I had to winch backwards.
This is what a twin stick transfer case is for, disconnect the front and get 2Lo rear, get the back around, engage front and go. Body damage? What body damage? God Forgives, Rocks Don't...
