Originally intended as a replacement for the Hurricane, plans was drawn before the Hurricane was put into action. It also shared the same designer, Sidney Camm. One of the fastest and most successful ground attack aircraft of WWII. Further development led to the Tempest and Tempest II. The Eurofighter Typhoon was named after the fighter, to the dismay of Germany (Typhoons attacked German trains).
