A quick stop in the town of Sorrento for a "caffe perfetto" and the madness of "I motorini". The Amalfi Coast is a little south of Naples Italy and runs between Sorrento and Salerno Italy.
What a picturesque place to visit. Come with us as we take a funicular to the town of Capri, a bus ride to Anacapri, and finaly a gondola to the top of mount Solero. Along the way we will visit the magnificent "Natural Arch" and other interesting sights.
Florence, like most major cities, abound with street performers. In the Piazza Signoria the mimes raise their art form to a high level. While attending two weeks of Italian language school (La Scuola Tuscana) I would sit in the Piazza and do my homework. I became friends with Luigi Benassai, the mime you will see. (Italian with English subtitles).
We don't need to say much about Sorrento ... it was a great place and we visited it in the Spring one year and the Summer another year. Louis' Lunch has been in business since 1895 and is home to America's first hamburg sandwich. They grind their meat fresh daily and use old fashioned vertical gas broilers to cook their hamburgers. Their bread toaster is from the 1920's. Their hamburgers are so tasty that they only allow cheese, onions and tomatoes on the hamburger sandwich. Don't ask for ketchup!
La Reggia is a 1,200 room royal palace that was built by king Charles of Bourbon in 1752. It was completed in 1847 and is home to some of the most exquisite paintings and sculptures of that time period. Nestled in downtown Caserta it is easy to find and has lots of parking.
Travel with us in a ski gondola and "jeep" as we ascend Mount Etna in Sicily. Who would have thought there would have been this much snow in March. We could only make it to just below the summit to view the huge caldera. At a lower elevation we hiked down into an extinct caldera.

Gaeta is a medieval coastal town between Naples and Anzio Italy. There are some nice restaurants around the central park where we stopped and had lunch.
