During 2002 the Hackensack Fire department fought a stubborn fire involving numerous cars in the junkyard of the Hackensack Auto Body Shop on Second street. Despite ladder pipes firefighters faced limited access to the fire. Heavy smoke condition could be seen from a distance

On an early cold Feb 6,2007 morning around 3:10 am the Hackensack Fire Department were dispatched to 109 Gamewell St. Upon arrival a second alarm was required bringing all Hackensack units to the scene a FAST unit from Teaneck as well as a ladder from Ridgefield Park. Heavy winds,icy conditions and frigid weather hampered firefighting efforts.
