Well, I apologize for the cruddy production quality, I just reinstalled windows yesterday and got everything working last night.
Transparent Sprays for Counter Strike (Dunno about 1.6, only tried in Source), and Half Life 2 (again, don't know about 1, don't have either installed at the moment).
The Layer Styles menu isn't all the way in the shot, I'll make sure it is next time, sorry about that, -_-.

This is a VisualBasic6 app I made in roughly 2 minutes that uses a formula and a series of loops to move images around in a random formation.

Well I didn't have time to edit the recorded AVI, so I'm just posting it.
And ya I did have a reference, plus I've redrawn the same pose about 5-7 times to get it right.
Well, I just setup this new software, and figured I'd try it out, so here's the result, might post a pixel art tutorial or something similar soon.
Sorry about the jumpy/loud audio, I'm still playing with those settings.
